It’s great news for those looking to help keep Mole Valley beautiful thanks to a range of new volunteering opportunities on offer in 2024. Whether getting involved in pond maintenance, putting green fingers to work in a community garden, or helping to create homes for our crucial bee population, these activities provide a great chance to meet new people, get some fresh air, and try something new!
Key projects include rejuvenating Buckland Pond ( Sunday 1 September) lead by experts from Reigate Area Conservation volunteers by removing unwanted vegetation, constructing, painting, and installing Bee Hotels, and working on the continual evolution of community gardens in the Fairfield Centre and Pippbrook. These projects join a number of ongoing volunteering projects in Mole Valley including providing the means to organise local litter picks as well as the Wellbeing Walks which take place along picturesque routes in Brockham, Holmwood, Dorking, and Leatherhead.
A recent weekend event saw a team from the Dorking Men’s Shed and guests from the Ukrainian community construct 40 Bee Hotels which will later be painted at a family fun workshop and then installed at several key locations including natural areas and gardens.
